Things We Like Fridays

13 May

Have you seen this yet? How funny!

Happy Friday the 13th, friends. Tonight, we celebrate this long, long week’s end — with pizza, drinks, comfy pants and early bedtimes. Yes, we’re wild and crazy.

On the list for this week:

(*) We both wrote running stories for the Herald over the last two weeks. Hope you enjoy! Here’s Chris’ and here’s Michelle’s. (Be warned, there are weird spacing issues going on in Michelle’s.)

(*) Have you read Tina Fey’s Prayer for A Daughter, from her book Bossypants? Do. To our friends Brent and Nicola and their new little girl, Rhys, this one’s for you.

(*) As for books, check out The Art of Racing In the Rain by Garth Stein. Michelle borrowed it from her friend, Anna, and finished it earlier this week. She couldn’t put it down. According to the back cover, People Magazine called it “a splendid tearjerker.” No kidding. Michelle cried (and laughed, back and forth) through the last few chapters. Twenty minutes after finishing the book — just thinking of the final scene — she burst into tears again. She highly recommends this read.

(*) Chris’ close friend and her yoga teacher, Nicola Franks, is offering a yoga workshop in Calgary May 27-29. Classes run two-and-a-half hours each day at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Nicola is hilarious, knowledgeable and highly energetic. She’s why Christina fell in love with yoga. Email Nicola to register at omdepot@shaw.ca

(*) FCUK is having a customer appreciation sale this weekend. We love the store for its feminine tops and dresses.

(*) Chris is off to Vancouver this weekend. Any recommendations for great venues for watching the Canucks?

(*) Check out The Bay for great sales on dresses. Some Rachel Roy beauties available for a steal last we checked. More great finds at Azul Couture — they’ve dropped prices in response to the rising Canadian dollar (Thank you!). Azul carries this Black Halo Morgan Dress which we both covet.

(*) Vote for the cutest smiling baby here.

(*) And after all that, consider heading to Banff for the Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival. We’d love to go but have plans this weekend. After we spend tonight eating pizza and wearing comfy pants, that is.
