Let’s discuss three of my favourite things*: spring, white blazers and Topshop.
1. Spring = self-explanatory. It’s coming — slowly, slowly — but it’s coming.
2. White blazers. I’ve always loved white, cream or ivory blazers. Done in the right fabrics, they’re sharp, sexy and elegant. I like them paired with sparkly earrings and jeans, preferably dark, or smart black trouser for a formal, feminine tuxedo-look. They look particularly good on a spring evening date to a place like CHARCUT or Mercato.
3. Topshop. Did you hear the news? The Hudson’s Bay Company announced Wednesday that it’s earned the Canadian franchise rights for Topshop and Topman. They’ll be opening up shops within stores and stand-alone stores over the next year.
No word yet on when we’ll see a Calgary opening but the first pieces are expected to hit Toronto stores in the fall.
I did a quick tour of the Topshop spring 2011 collection. It’s a mix of fun crazy pieces — like a sweatshirt with a big fried egg-and-bacon smiley face — and modern takes on 1950s-styled dresses and tops.
I think this jacket would do nicely for a dinner out on a spring weekend:
I’d pair it with dark ankle-grazing jeans, a straight hair pony tail and these fun earrings:
Have a great one, lovelies!
* Of course, my nephew, who wins me over more and more each day, needs to be mentioned in any list of favourites. I promise not to turn this into a baby blog; he’s just so new and princely. See below:
